Crafting session with resident and staff

Dementia Care

Our residential care home provides dementia care in Leicestershire in an environment that has been designed to be safe, caring, and welcoming. At The Ashton Care Home, all members of our dementia care team have received extensive, specialised training in dealing with all elements of memory impairment. We also take a holistic and person centred approach to care, ensuring that each and every resident is provided with the highest level of care and respect.

Our management team and activity coordinators go above and beyond, collaborating with dementia care residents and their loved ones to identify activities and therapies that are appropriate for their specific needs and to create a dementia care plan for each individual. Through daily planned activities, social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved and any frustrations and tensions associated with dementia are relieved.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is an umbrella term for illnesses that affect a variety of mental functions, including speech and memory. Supporting people living with dementia can ensure that they continue to live their lives to the fullest.

With the right care and support from specialist dementia care homes and nursing homes, staff can help those living with dementia keep their sense of self and independence for as long as possible. We understand that no two people living with dementia are the same and that although some may only require minor assistance in managing their daily lives, others may need far more.

Our dementia support service is tailored to each individual, and our care home and staff provide care in the ideal environment for people to live a happy and safe life.

Providing Dementia Care in Leicestershire

Our staff have undertaken extensive dementia care training and we take pride in offering the greatest level of care and respect to each resident. We work hard to support people and provide a dementia care service that allows each person to reach their full potential and live a happy and comfortable life.

We are proud to provide dementia care in Leicestershire and our care home has been created with carefully designed spaces and knowledge of the need for comfort and familiarity, as well as practicalities such as en-suite wet rooms. We encourage residents to bring their belongings from their own homes to make their personal space their own.

We also provide much-needed support for the family members of our residents as the transition is as much a change for them as it is for their loved ones.

Our commitment to a person-centered approach aims to preserve residents’ independence and dignity while assuring them of our continuous support.

We prioritise the training and development of all of our staff, including our dementia care team. They receive ongoing training to stay updated on the latest in dementia care and support. The Ashton Care Home offers a diverse activities programme for all residents, including both group and one-on-one sessions. Regular arts & crafts sessions, music therapy, and reminiscence activities are just a few examples. These activities and therapies are carefully chosen to enhance the physical, cognitive, and social wellbeing of all residents, including those living with dementia.

At The Ashton Care Home, we require a 28-day notice period for residents receiving any of our long-term care types and are looking to move out. Our compassionate team are on hand around the clock to support you with your moving transition and answer any further questions you have.
