Summer Garden Fayre
To properly soak up and make the most of the final summer we held a garden fayre in our landscaped gardens to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The day was packed with fun, laughter and various games, stalls, entertainment, and picture opportunities!
We opened the event to the local community and invited everybody to get stuck in. Family members enjoyed seeing what their loved ones created for the event and were able to spend some quality time with them.
We offered many different activities, including hooking a duck, wet sponge throwing and a tombola. We also had a wine and water table and a platter of nibbles made by our wonderful kitchen team. Our home manager, Preet, our activities coordinator, Tammie and some family members of residents volunteered for the wet sponge throwing. Our residents and the children had a great time soaking us, thankfully the sun was out so we dried pretty quickly!
We invited Julia Sings to visit and perform some of her 50s to 80s songs which were enjoyed by all. Residents got up to sing and dance and share their stories about their favourite songs that came out when they were younger. This also allowed them to catch up with loved ones and the younger generation, creating more cherished, lifelong memories.
Overall, this was a brilliant day with the entire home getting involved and we were able to raise £159 which has been donated to Make-A-Wish. We thank everyone again who came and took part and donated to the cause. If you want to know more about daily life here at The Ashton Care Home, get in touch with our friendly team to book a tour.
