Joyce’s Day Out

At The Ashton Care Home in Hinckley, we care about our resident's overall wellbeing, and as well as supporting them with their health needs, we like to ensure that their personal needs and wishes are met too.

One of our residents, Joyce, made us aware recently that she wished to go back to have a look at the church where she got married and to see the back-to-back houses, one of which she grew up in as a child.

We organised a day out for Joyce, firstly taking her to Ashton Paris Church in Birmingham where she got married in 1951.  Following this, we went on to see the National Trust Back-to-Back Houses.

This day was a great form of reminiscence for Joyce and it brought back lots of emotional yet fond memories for her. It was a wonderful day that Joyce thoroughly enjoyed, and we also enjoyed hearing all about her wedding day and childhood memories.

We strongly believe that moving into a care home does not have to mean giving up all the things you want to do. At The Ashton, our team is here to support our residents with whatever they need, and we are only too happy to organise trips and activities for our residents to ensure they are living their lives just the way they want.
